The Context

ELIN Air achieved what no African aviation company had previously accomplished: completing Africa’s first 7,800-landings maintenance check on a Bombardier Challenger CL604 using Nigerian engineering expertise.

While technically significant, the achievement risked remaining within aviation circles. The opportunity was to reposition it as a story of African innovation, indigenous engineering excellence and the continent’s growing technical capability.

The Challenge

The communications strategy needed to:

  • Translate a highly technical engineering milestone into a compelling business story.
  • Position ELIN Air as an industry pioneer rather than simply a maintenance provider.
  • Build executive credibility for the company’s leadership.
  • Secure visibility beyond specialist aviation publications.
  • Demonstrate the significance of indigenous aviation expertise to business leaders, policymakers and investors.

Our Strategic Response

GLANN developed an integrated communications strategy designed to elevate the milestone beyond the aviation industry. By combining strategic narrative development, executive positioning, media engagement and premium content production, we positioned the achievement as a landmark moment for African engineering.

Scope of Work

Reframing the Narrative

Instead of leading with: “ELIN Air completes a 7,800-landings maintenance check,” we repositioned the story around a broader strategic message: Africa’s aviation future will increasingly be built by African expertise.

That shift transformed a technical update into a story with relevance for business, government, investors and international media.

Executive Recognition

The communications programme strengthened the visibility of both ELIN Air and its founder, Dr. Elizabeth Jack-Rich, positioning the company as a leading voice in African aviation.

Following the campaign, Nairametrics featured Dr. Jack-Rich among the women transforming Nigeria’s $2.5 billion aviation industry, highlighting ELIN Air’s historic maintenance achievement as a defining example of indigenous aviation capability. This recognition reinforced the company’s leadership position and the broader significance of the milestone.

Strategic Value

Complex engineering achievements rarely capture public attention on their own. They require strategic framing that connects technical excellence with broader economic, industrial and societal relevance. By repositioning ELIN Air’s historic milestone as a story of African capability and leadership, GLANN transformed an industry achievement into a narrative of continental significance.
